An extended contract has been signed between PAS, Visit Indy, and the Indiana Convention Center that will keep the organization’s annual PASIC™ in Indianapolis through 2028.
The Percussive Arts Society is pleased to announce that an extended contract has been signed between PAS, Visit Indy, and the Indiana Convention Center that will keep the organization’s annual Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC™) in Indianapolis through 2028. “For nearly 15 years, the Percussive Arts Society has called Indy home and become part of the fabric of our community,” said Leonard Hoops, President & CEO, Visit Indy. “We greatly appreciate the year-round impact of Joshua and the PAS team, their terrific annual convention, and being home to their award-winning attraction – Rhythm! Discovery Center – recognized by USA Today as a top 20 unique attraction in the U.S., which will be back in downtown Indy soon.”
“As a largest-of-its-kind gathering for musicians, artisans, aficionados, and entrepreneurs, PASIC has become a treasured Indianapolis musical tradition, and I am thrilled to keep it here through 2028,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “I encourage residents to experience this one-of-a-kind event in person, while making sure to keep the Rhythm! Discovery Center in their list of must-see Downtown attractions when it reopens.”
Since relocating the Percussive Arts Society’s international offices to Indianapolis in 2009, PASIC has been held each November in Indianapolis, with the exception of 2012 and 2015. “By keeping PASIC in Indianapolis, we can lock in multi-year contracts, negotiate better discounts, and pass those savings on to our attendees and exhibitors,” said Joshua Simonds, Executive Director, PAS. “Over the past few years, we have seen the data, and much like our strategic partners – DCI, MFA, and WGI, as well as NAMM and the Midwest Clinic, all of whom keep their convention or competition finals in a single location – we also see the benefits of committing PASIC to a single location. We want to commit to Indianapolis the way it has committed so much to us over the past decade. In particular, if not for the long-term relationship PAS has established with the city of Indianapolis, the cancellation of our in-person PASIC 2020 would have created additional negative impacts on the long-term health of our organization”.
”PAS and Rhythm! Discovery Center have an extraordinary reputation for bringing world-renowned musicians and talent to Indianapolis on a regular basis. Their contribution to our community is significant, and we are ecstatic to continue to earn their respect as both a home and place to host PASIC,” said Matt Carter, Visit Indy Vice President of Destination Development & Executive Director, MusicCrossroads.
Julie Davila, current President of the PAS Board of Directors, stated, “This commitment will also allow our staff, who live and work in Indianapolis year round, to continue to build relationships with the local community and learn from each PASIC event in order to make subsequent conventions even better.”
